Can blood tests predict lung injury in burned children?

Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS)

Who can take part

  • The child must be between 1 and 12 years old.
  • The burn must have happened 24 hours ago or less, and be a thermal burn (from fire or hot liquid).
  • The burn covers 20% to 40% of the child's body surface area.
  • The child must not have other serious medical conditions like kidney or liver disease, anemia, chronic lung disease, or a weak immune system.
