  • You are 18 years or older
  • You are scheduled for elective (non-emergency) heart bypass surgery
  • You have an ASA physical status of II or III (a classification of your overall health before surgery)
  • You will have your blood circulated outside your body during surgery (on-pump bypass)
  • You can understand and sign a consent form
