This study tests whether a sports rehabilitation program can help heal two common knee injuries at the same time: a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and worn cartilage behind the kneecap (patellar chondromalacia). If you have these conditions, the program aims to reduce pain and improve function.

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 50 years old.
  • You have a confirmed ACL tear in one knee for the first time.
  • You also have a patellofemoral cartilage injury in the same knee, diagnosed by MRI.
  • You have knee pain behind the kneecap that gets worse with activity, or you have a positive grind, compression, or squat test.
  • Your pain score on a 0-10 scale is 6 or less.
  • You have a body mass index (BMI) between 18.5 and 35.
  • You are not pregnant, and you have no history of knee surgery or conditions like tumors, rheumatoid arthritis, or tuberculosis.
  • You can commit to the rehab and follow-up visits.
