Who can take part
- You have been on continuous bed rest for at least 4 weeks, for example due to a stroke, spinal cord injury, major surgery, or a chronic illness.
- You have clear muscle loss, confirmed by a test (DXA scan) showing low muscle mass.
- Your overall health is stable enough for a minor surgery (a muscle biopsy) and to receive a small transplant under the skin.
- You do not have a history of cancer, bleeding problems, active infection, severe kidney or heart failure, or a muscle disease like muscular dystrophy.
- You are not taking certain medications that affect muscle growth (like steroids, testosterone, or growth hormone) or blood thinners.
- You are not currently in another interventional clinical trial (observational studies are okay).
