Brain stimulation to measure and improve arm recovery after stroke

Cortico-cortical Paired Associative Stimulation

Who can take part

  • You have had a stroke (ischemic or hemorrhagic) at least 6 months ago.
  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You have some residual movement in your affected arm and hand (score 4-7 on the Functional Test for the Hemiplegic Upper Extremity).
  • You can produce a brain response to TMS in both sides of your brain.
  • You are able to give informed written consent and communicate in Chinese.
  • You do not have any contraindications to TMS, other neurological diseases, or severe cognitive impairment.
