Who can take part

  • You must be 65 years or older.
  • You must have a specific type of hip fracture (either pertrochanteric or subtrochanteric).
  • Surgery must happen within 48 hours of being admitted to the hospital.
  • You cannot have a known allergy to tranexamic acid.
  • You cannot have had a blood clot, heart attack, or stroke in the past year.
  • You cannot have severe kidney problems or be on certain blood thinners that haven't been stopped in time.
