Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You have a diagnosis of obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (a thickened heart muscle that blocks blood flow) with a specific heart pressure gradient of 50 mmHg or more at rest or with activity.
  • You have heart symptoms like shortness of breath or chest pain (NYHA class II or III) that continue despite taking standard medications like beta-blockers or calcium channel blockers.
  • Your heart's pumping ability (ejection fraction) is 55% or higher before starting mavacamten.
  • You are either already taking mavacamten or about to start it, and have had a genetic test for CYP2C19 (a liver enzyme that affects drug breakdown).
  • You have health insurance and agree to participate.
