Who can take part
- You must be between 18 and 70 years old.
- You must have type 2 diabetes.
- You must either be newly diagnosed (within 3 months, no diabetes pills) with an HbA1c between 8.0% and 11.0%, or you are already taking one diabetes pill (like metformin, sulfonylurea, or certain others) for at least 2 months, with a stable dose for 1 month, and your HbA1c is between 7.0% and 11.0%.
- Your body mass index (BMI) must be greater than 19 and no more than 40.
- You must not have type 1 diabetes, a history of pancreatitis, or serious heart or kidney problems (like heart failure or kidney disease with eGFR below 45).
- You must not have had a urinary or genital infection recently or be at high risk for them.
