Who can take part

  • You are male and 50 years or older
  • You have been diagnosed with an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia)
  • You are scheduled for a TURP surgery under spinal anesthesia
  • You are in generally good health (ASA class I to III – your doctor determines this)
  • You cannot have a history of blood clots, stroke, or seizures
  • You cannot be on blood thinners or have kidney problems
