Who can take part
- You are having planned lower-back decompression surgery (lumbar laminectomy), with or without fusion
- This is your main, first (primary) surgery for this hospital stay
- You are an adult age 18 or older and can give informed consent
- You do not have a history of blood clots in the lung or leg (DVT or PE)
- Your blood tests before surgery are normal enough (PT/INR, aPTT, bleeding time) and your platelet count is 100 or higher
- You are not pregnant, not in prison, and you are not allergic to tranexamic acid
