Who can take part

  • You have an injury to your mid-back (thoracic) or low-back (lumbar) spine needing surgery to stabilize it
  • Your spine surgery must happen within 21 days of the injury
  • Your surgery plan includes a long posterior fusion with more than 5 fused levels
  • You must be between 18 and 80 years old
  • You have no allergy to tranexamic acid and you can give consent for the study
  • You should not have certain bleeding/clotting problems, serious infection/sepsis, or recent blood-thinning medicines
