Pulp health and blood markers study

Pulpitis - IrreversiblePulpitis - Reversible

Part of Mouth & dental clinical trials.

This study looks at whether certain substances in the blood from a tooth's pulp can help tell the difference between a healthy tooth, a tooth with mild inflammation (reversible pulpitis), and a tooth with more serious inflammation (irreversible pulpitis). You may be asked to donate a small amount of pulp blood during a dental procedure.

Who can take part

  • You are between 14 and 50 years old
  • You have a tooth that is either healthy, has mild pain that doesn't linger, or has strong pain that lingers after cold or sweet stimuli
  • You have no serious medical conditions (like diabetes or heart disease)
  • You have not taken painkillers or antibiotics in the last week
  • You are not pregnant
  • Your tooth can be saved and has not already had root canal treatment or deep decay that exposed the nerve
