Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 45 years old.
  • You are scheduled for a cesarean section (c-section).
  • You have heavy bleeding (losing at least 1000 mL of blood or having unstable vital signs) that requires a blood transfusion.
  • You agree to participate and sign a consent form.
  • You do not have blood disorders like sickle cell disease or thalassemia.
  • You are not allergic to blood products.
  • You do not have severe bleeding problems (like very low platelet count or high INR) or active DIC (a serious clotting disorder) before the study starts.
  • You are willing to receive a blood transfusion.
