Chemo before surgery for rectal cancer with liver spread
Part of Cancer, Digestive system clinical trials.
This trial tests if giving FOLFIRINOX chemotherapy first can improve outcomes for people with rectal cancer that has spread to the liver but can still be removed by surgery.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older
- You have rectal cancer (middle or lower part) that has not spread beyond the liver

This trial tests a combination of chemotherapy and radiation therapy before surgery for people with mid or low rectal cancer that hasn't spread. The goal is to see if this approach works better than current treatments.
This trial tests whether combining chemotherapy (mFOLFOX6) and a short course of radiation before surgery improves outcomes for people with resectable rectal cancer. The goal is to shrink and control the cancer early and then remove it with curative surgery.
This Phase 3 trial compares different chemotherapy and radiation combinations given before surgery for locally advanced rectal cancer, to see which one works better. It may help people get a tumor removed completely (R0 resection) and improve outcomes while comparing treatment safety and effectiveness.
This study tests whether combining mFOLFOX6 chemotherapy with an immunotherapy drug (anti-PD-1) before surgery can shrink locally advanced rectal cancer. It is open to people whose tumors are mismatch repair proficient (pMMR) or microsatellite stable (MSS).
This Phase 3 trial compares two treatment plans given before rectal surgery. It tests whether stronger chemotherapy alone works better than chemotherapy pills plus long-term radiation to improve outcomes for locally advanced rectal cancer.
This trial tests whether adding FOLFIRI chemotherapy after surgery for liver metastases from colorectal cancer can reduce the risk of the cancer coming back. It's for people whose liver tumors responded well to the same chemotherapy before surgery.
