Who can take part

  • You are over 40 years old.
  • You had a recent ischemic stroke (clot-caused stroke) or a high-risk mini-stroke within the past 30 days.
  • The stroke or mini-stroke is likely due to a narrowing of at least one major artery inside your brain, as seen on imaging.
  • You are able to do your daily activities with little to no help (modified Rankin Score less than 4).
  • You do not have another reason needing long-term blood thinners (like a heart valve or recent stent).
  • You do not have advanced kidney disease, low platelets, or uncontrolled high blood pressure.

Two blood thinners for mild stroke with narrowed brain artery

This trial tests a combination of two blood thinners (antiplatelet drugs) to see if they work better than one in people who had a mild stroke caused by a narrowed artery in the brain. If you had a recent first stroke and are otherwise healthy, you may be able to join.
