  • Child is between 4 and 10 years old
  • The molar at the back of the lower jaw has a dead nerve (pulp necrosis)
  • At least two-thirds of the tooth root is still intact
  • Parent or guardian gives permission for the child to participate
  • The tooth has enough healthy crown left to be restored
