Ultrasound and nutrition in surgical ICU patients

Nutritional StatusMuscle Thickness of the Quadriceps FemorisFrailty

This trial uses ultrasound to check muscle and body composition in patients recovering from surgery in the ICU. It also looks at how nutrition affects recovery, so you may be asked about your diet.

NCT06523348Not yet recruiting
Ultrasound of thigh muscle for frailty in older adults

This study compares an ultrasound measurement of the thigh muscle (quadriceps) with a standard frailty score in older adults recently admitted to the ICU or emergency department. The goal is to see if the ultrasound can help doctors quickly assess frailty using a routine CT scan.

NCT04717869Recruiting
Studying frailty support for ICU patients

This trial looks at ways to help “frailty” (low strength and resilience) in people staying in intensive care units. It mainly enrolls adults who expect to be in the ICU for more than 24 hours, and it tries to avoid people whose mobility problems have other causes.

Measuring leg muscle mass to predict hospital stay after cancer surgery

This study uses ultrasound to measure leg muscle mass before surgery for gynecologic cancers, to see if it can predict how long you'll need to stay in the hospital after the operation.

NCT07310667Enrolling by invitation
Frailty and muscle thickness in older ICU patients

This study looks at how frailty relates to muscle thickness in the thigh for patients over 65 who stay in the intensive care unit for at least a week. It aims to find ways to better support recovery.

Ultrasound and fluid monitoring in the ICU

This study uses ultrasound and electrical impedance (skin electrodes) to track fluid balance in the muscles and tissues of ICU patients. It aims to see if these tools can help doctors better manage fluids during your stay.
