Who can take part
- You must have advanced lung adenocarcinoma (a type of non-small cell lung cancer) with a specific EGFR gene mutation (exon 19 deletion or exon 21 L858R).
- Your cancer must be stage IV and you must have not received any prior treatments for it.
- You must have fluid around the lungs (pleural effusion) confirmed by a CT scan or ultrasound, preferably with cancer cells found in that fluid.
- After taking furmonertinib for 8-10 weeks, the fluid must be mostly gone or much less, and the cancer must have shrunk or stayed stable.
- You must be at least 18, able to perform daily activities with minimal help (ECOG 0-2), and have adequate blood counts and organ function.
- You cannot have had previous radiation to the chest or certain other medical conditions like interstitial lung disease or active hepatitis that is not well-controlled.
