Who can take part
- You are scheduled for a planned heart surgery through a cut in the middle of your chest.
- You are 18 years or older.
- You have normal thinking and memory before surgery (based on a standard test) and can cooperate with tests.
- You do not have severe heart failure, active infections, or other major organ problems.
- You do not have liver disease, kidney blockages, or conditions that affect blood flow in the liver or kidneys.
- You are not pregnant, and you do not have a history of stroke or brain conditions that affect thinking.
