Who can take part

  • You are 60 years old or older
  • You have heart failure with reduced pumping function (LVEF below 40%)
  • Your current beta-blocker dose is less than half of the recommended target (for example, less than 100 mg metoprolol, 12.5 mg carvedilol twice a day, or 5 mg bisoprolol daily)
  • You do not have a condition that makes beta-blockers unsafe for you, such as an allergy
  • Your doctor approves of you taking part in this trial
  • Your heart condition is stable
