  • Have both type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease (moderate stage)
  • On a stable dose of diabetes or kidney-protective medications for at least 3 to 4 weeks
  • Body mass index (BMI) between 18.5 and 40, with stable weight in the last 3 months
  • Not on dialysis and no serious liver, heart, or bleeding conditions
