Who can take part
- You have kidney cancer that has a clear cell component and is considered high risk but has not spread to other parts of the body.
- You are scheduled to have surgery (partial or radical nephrectomy) to remove the kidney cancer.
- You are 18 years or older.
- You have not had prior systemic treatment for this kidney cancer.
- Your kidney, liver, and blood cell counts are within acceptable ranges, and you are generally able to perform daily activities.
- You are willing to use effective birth control during the study and for 4 months after treatment.
