Who can take part
- You have advanced cancer (not removable by surgery) that has spread or come back, and standard treatments haven't worked or aren't available
- You have experienced significant unintended weight loss or have a low body mass index due to your cancer
- Your blood work shows specific levels of a protein called GDF15 and normal kidney, liver, and blood cell counts
- Your heart pumps blood effectively (ejection fraction greater than 50%) and you're in reasonable overall health
- You haven't had recent heart problems, strokes, blood clots, or major surgery in the past month
- You're not currently on tube feeding, IV nutrition, or recently started steroid medications
