  • Age 18–75 years old
  • Diagnosed with rectal adenocarcinoma (a type of rectal cancer) confirmed by biopsy
  • Cancer is microsatellite stable (MSS) or mismatch repair proficient (pMMR)—a genetic test result
  • Cancer is locally advanced (spread to nearby lymph nodes or into the rectal wall, but not to distant organs)
  • Tumor is in the lower or middle part of the rectum (within 10 cm of the anus)
  • Good overall health and organ function (blood counts, liver, and kidney tests within acceptable limits)
