Treatment to Clear Resistant Bacteria from Your Gut

Who can take part

  • You are between 19 and 64 years old
  • You carry CRE or VRE bacteria in your stool (confirmed by testing) but have no active infection from these bacteria
  • You have not had major bowel surgery (like colon removal) or a fecal microbiota transplant in the past
  • You are not severely ill, not in the ICU, and not on a breathing machine or intensive medications for sepsis or shock
  • You are willing to provide stool samples and avoid certain medications (antibiotics, acid-reducers, probiotics) for at least one week before and during the study
  • You do not have active cancer being treated, a recent organ transplant, severe immune system problems, or severe blood/liver/kidney abnormalities
