Intestinal Multi-drug Resistant Organism Colonization

Who can take part

  • Be 18 years or older and able to sign consent (or have a legal representative who can).
  • Have a positive stool or rectal swab for one of these resistant bacteria: CRE, VRE, ESBL, drug-resistant Acinetobacter, and/or drug-resistant Pseudomonas.
  • Be able to follow study instructions, including swallowing capsules.
  • Stop taking “systemic” (whole-body) antibiotics at least 1 day before the study starts (Day 0) and avoid antibiotics during the study if medically possible.
  • If you can get pregnant or father a child, agree to reliable birth control during the study and for the required time after the last dose; do not plan pregnancy during the study.
  • Agree to stop probiotics or other gut “microbiome restoration” treatments at least 1 day before Day 0 and during the whole study.
