Who can take part
- Be between 18 and 70 years old
- Have high blood pressure (systolic between 140–169 mmHg or diastolic between 90–109 mmHg)
- Have a BMI of 24 or higher (a measure of body weight relative to height)
- Be either untreated for high blood pressure or on a stable dose of certain blood pressure medicines for at least 30 days
- Not have a known secondary cause of high blood pressure (a specific underlying condition causing it)
- Not have a history of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction or recent heart procedures
