Who can take part
- You must be between 18 and 80 years old.
- Your blood pressure (top number) should be between 140 and 170 mmHg when measured seated, and it must be poorly controlled despite treatment, or you have resistant hypertension.
- You must not have certain other causes of high blood pressure (like kidney artery narrowing, thyroid problems, or Cushing's syndrome).
- You must not have had serious heart problems (like heart attack, stroke, or heart failure hospitalization) in the last 6 months.
- You must not be taking certain blood pressure medications called MRAs or potassium-sparing diuretics (e.g., spironolactone) within the past 4 weeks.
- You must have normal potassium levels, and acceptable kidney and liver function tests.
