Who can take part

  • Had a stroke (either bleeding or blocked blood vessel) at least 3 months ago
  • Between 18 and 80 years old
  • Can walk no more than about 200 meters (roughly 2 city blocks) without stopping
  • Have some difficulty with daily activities like dressing or bathing
  • Able to think and remember clearly (score of 24 or higher on a memory test)
  • No other serious medical conditions that would make exercise unsafe or impossible
