Who can take part

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You are having heart surgery that requires general anesthesia (being put to sleep)
  • Your surgical team plans to use heart ultrasound (TEE) during surgery as part of your routine care
  • Your surgical team plans to place a pulmonary artery catheter (a monitoring tube) because of your heart condition or surgery complexity
  • You can understand and sign a consent form before surgery
