Who can take part

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You are scheduled for single-port or two-port VATS (a minimally invasive lung surgery using small cameras and instruments)
  • You are in generally good health (ASA class 1–3, meaning you don't have severe uncontrolled medical conditions)
  • You can understand the study instructions, describe your pain level, and give informed consent
  • You have not been taking strong pain medications regularly for more than 3 months
  • You are not allergic to local anesthetics (numbing medicines) and do not have a bleeding disorder that would make a nerve block unsafe
