- You are 18 years or older and on a waiting list for primary total knee replacement
- Your knee pain is moderate (rated 4–9 out of 10) and you've experienced it in the past month
- You can commit to weekly water-based exercise at Southwark leisure centres plus three times weekly land-based training for 6 weeks before surgery
- You have a smartphone or tablet with internet access to use the exercise app
- You are willing to pay £4.30 for the last two water exercise sessions
- You speak and understand English well enough to follow instructions and give informed consent
