Who can take part
- Your child has a heart condition they were born with (not cyanotic—meaning their blood oxygen levels are relatively normal)
- Your child is between 1 and 7 years old
- Your child has not had previous heart surgery
- Your child has no known allergy to antihistamine medications
- Your child's blood clots normally (INR ≤ 1.5 and platelets ≥ 50,000)
- The surgery is planned in advance (not an emergency procedure)
