Who can take part
- Age 21–75 years
- Body mass index (BMI) of 38 or less
- Moderate-to-severe arthritis in the big toe joint with significant pain (over 40 on a pain scale)
- Enough healthy bone around the joint to support the implant without needing a bone graft
- No severe cartilage damage on the bone opposite the damaged area
- No allergy to polyurethane, bone cement, acrylic, or titanium
