Obesity Surgery Study to Prevent Heart Problems
Part of Heart & circulation, Hormones & metabolism clinical trials.
This study follows people with obesity who are having weight-loss surgery to see if the surgery can help prevent a specific type of heart problem (HFpEF) that sometimes develops in people carrying excess weight. Researchers will track your heart health and metabolism before and after surgery.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.

This study looks at how weight-loss surgery affects heart health by checking markers of inflammation in the blood and how blood vessels work. It may help understand why surgery lowers heart risk for people with obesity.
This study looks at how kidney disease relates to a type of heart failure (called HFpEF) that often happens in people with obesity. It will help doctors understand this connection better.
This study looks at how obesity and weight loss affect people living with heart failure where the heart pumping strength is reduced. It uses heart imaging (MRI) to measure the heart and may help clarify what weight changes do for symptoms and heart function.
This study tests whether a new medication called NNC0487-0111 can help people with heart failure who also have obesity. Researchers will compare it to a placebo (inactive pill) to see if it improves heart function and overall health.
This trial tests if weight loss surgery can help people with heart failure and atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat) improve their heart condition. You may join if you are between 45 and 70, have a BMI of 32 to 40, and have mild to moderate heart failure with preserved pumping function.
This study uses CT scans to see how fat inside heart muscle changes after bariatric (weight-loss) surgery and how that affects how well your heart relaxes. You'll have heart imaging before and after surgery to help doctors understand the connection between weight loss and heart health.
