  • You have been diagnosed with sickle cell disease (types HbSS or HbSC)
  • You are of Nigerian descent
  • You are either already taking hydroxyurea or willing to start taking it
  • You had genetic testing done before (looking at how your body metabolizes certain medications)

  • You do not have severe kidney or liver disease
