Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 75 years old.
- You have been diagnosed with a type of rectal cancer called adenocarcinoma, and the tumor is within 4 inches (10 cm) of the anal opening.
- The cancer has spread to no more than 2 other sites in the body, and there are 5 or fewer total spots of spread (each counted separately).
- Your tumor is MSS or pMMR (a specific genetic feature that means your cancer may respond differently to immunotherapy).
- You have not had any previous cancer treatments for this specific rectal cancer, such as surgery, chemo, or radiation.
- You are generally healthy enough for daily activities (ECOG score 0 or 1) and your organ function (blood counts, liver, kidneys) is within acceptable ranges.
