This research study examines a rare eye condition called long anterior zonule (LAZ) that affects the structures supporting the lens. Researchers will compare people with this condition to those without it, and study families where LAZ runs in the family, to understand how genes and physical eye changes relate to this condition.

Who can take part
- You have cataracts (clouding of the eye lens) with confirmed LAZ, OR you are a relative of someone diagnosed with LAZ, OR you are a cataract patient without LAZ to serve as a comparison
- If you have LAZ, it must be diagnosed by at least two senior eye doctors using specialized equipment
- If you are a family member participant, you must be 18 years or older
- You cannot have had eye surgery before (including cataract, glaucoma, or retina surgery)
- You do not have severe, uncontrolled medical conditions like diabetes or connective tissue diseases that would prevent you from completing eye exams
- You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
