- Age 18–45 years old
- Overweight or obese (BMI 24–35 kg/m²) with minimum body weight (males >60 kg, females >55 kg)
- Generally healthy with normal heart function, blood work, and no serious medical conditions in the past 6 months
- No history of thyroid cancer, pancreas problems, gallstones, or blood sugar issues
- No diabetes medications, blood thinners, or other prescription drugs in the past 2–3 weeks
- Normal thyroid and liver function tests, plus normal blood sugar and calcitonin levels
