This study uses advanced MRI imaging to measure blood flow in the liver and evaluate how well a procedure called TIPS (a small tube placed in the liver) works for managing liver cirrhosis. Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You are able to safely have an MRI scan (no metal implants like pacemakers or cochlear implants)
  • You have liver cirrhosis caused by metabolic factors (like obesity or diabetes), NOT from hepatitis or other liver diseases
  • Your liver disease has been confirmed by tests showing significant scarring (fibrosis or cirrhosis)
  • You drink very little alcohol (less than 20g daily for women, 30g for men)
  • You need or are planning to receive a TIPS procedure for complications like fluid buildup or bleeding
