  • You are in an intensive care unit (ICU) needing a breathing machine
  • You are expected to need the breathing machine for more than 48 hours
  • Your breathing tube has a special drainage system for removing secretions above the cuff
  • You have health insurance coverage
  • You do not have a severe neck, throat, or voice-box infection, or prior throat radiation
