- Have gums that are healthy, inflamed, or have periodontitis (gum disease)
- No tooth extractions or implant removals in the past 4 weeks
- No gum surgery in the past 4 weeks
- Not currently receiving chemotherapy, head/neck radiation, or immune-suppressing medications
- Not pregnant or breastfeeding
