- You are 18 years or older
- You are having planned intermediate-complexity surgery (not a minor procedure, not heart surgery) under general anesthesia
- Your overall health is stable enough for surgery (ASA status I, II, or III)
- You expect to stay in the hospital for at least 24 hours after surgery
- You do not have severe liver or kidney disease
- You are not currently taking opioid pain medications regularly or struggling with opioid use
