Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with primary hypertension (high blood pressure) that is Stage 1, 2, or 3
  • Your blood pressure is not controlled by 3 or more blood pressure medications, or you have secondary hypertension—you would not qualify
  • You have not had a heart attack, stroke, or severe heart failure within the last 6 months
  • You do not have implanted electronic devices (like a pacemaker) or metal implants in your head
  • You have no active major psychiatric disorders or significant cognitive impairment
  • You do not have skin problems (lesions, eczema, or broken skin) where the electrodes would be placed
