Who can take part

  • You are between 12 and 70 years old
  • You have been diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE, or lupus) and have kidney involvement (lupus nephritis)
  • A kidney biopsy shows a specific type of kidney inflammation (proliferative Class III or IV lupus nephritis)
  • Blood tests show lupus antibodies (ANA, anti-dsDNA, or anti-Smith antibody)
  • Your lupus kidney disease is active and hasn't improved after trying at least 2 different immunosuppressive medications
  • Your kidney function is low enough to show active disease, but not so damaged that doctors think treatment cannot help
