This study tests whether applying cold atmospheric plasma (an ionized gas) during surgery can reduce wound complications in patients with poor blood flow to their legs. If you're having surgery to treat narrowed arteries in your groin area and have risk factors for wound healing problems, this trial may help prevent infections and other healing issues.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You need surgery to treat peripheral arterial occlusive disease (blocked or narrowed arteries) using a groin incision
  • You are at high risk for wound healing complications based on your health history (diabetes, kidney disease, smoking, obesity, age over 80, or previous similar surgeries)
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You do not have an active skin infection or serious infection in the leg being treated
  • You are not using certain wound-healing products during or after surgery (coated drapes, fibrin sealants, or negative pressure wound therapy)
