Who can take part

  • Diagnosed with type 2 diabetes within the last 10 years
  • Have not needed insulin for at least 6 months and never had diabetic ketoacidosis
  • If diagnosed before age 40: specific blood tests show you have type 2 (not type 1) diabetes
  • Not pregnant and not acutely ill at time of enrollment
  • Not taking high-dose steroids or immunosuppressive medications that affect insulin production
  • Kidney function adequate (eGFR ≥ 30 mL/min/1.73 m²)
