Who can take part

  • If you have diabetes: it must have been diagnosed within the last 24 months (and meet diabetes test standards).
  • You must be under 24 months for the main infant part of the study (or under 70 for another part with different groups).
  • You likely must have type 1 diabetes risk based on genetics, or a confirmed single-gene (monogenic) cause.
  • If diagnosed under 12 months: you must test negative for non-autoimmune “neonatal diabetes” gene changes (unless this study’s control group matches otherwise).
  • You must be well at the time of blood/immune sampling (no significant current illness).
  • For the control groups: the participant age and diagnosis status must match the study (and they should not have autoimmune disease or immune system disorders).
