Preventing Type 1 Diabetes in At-Risk People

Who can take part

  • Be between 2 and 45 years old (or 2–20 if you have an extended family member with type 1 diabetes)
  • Have a close family member (parent, sibling, child) or extended family member (cousin, aunt, uncle, grandparent) with type 1 diabetes, OR have specific antibodies in your blood that suggest diabetes risk
  • Not currently have type 1 diabetes or any other form of diabetes
  • Not be taking diabetes medications or certain immune-suppressing medications
  • Not have a severe active disease that would shorten your lifespan or require long-term immune medications
