Who can take part
- You have osteoarthritis (wear-and-tear damage) in your knee and need a total knee replacement
- This is your first (primary) knee replacement surgery on that knee
- You are at least 18 years old
- You have not had previous knee ligament reconstruction or major bone surgery on the same leg
- Your knee is not too stiff before surgery (you can bend it at least 90° and have less than 15° backward bend when straight)
- You can attend follow-up appointments and live close enough to the hospital for ongoing care
