Who can take part

  • You have osteoarthritis (wear-and-tear damage) in your knee and need a total knee replacement
  • This is your first (primary) knee replacement surgery on that knee
  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You have not had previous knee ligament reconstruction or major bone surgery on the same leg
  • Your knee is not too stiff before surgery (you can bend it at least 90° and have less than 15° backward bend when straight)
  • You can attend follow-up appointments and live close enough to the hospital for ongoing care
